Origin has been designing GPS-based safety camera warning systems since 1999 – longer than any other company in the world. Origin launched its first GPS-based camera location system, Origin blue i, at the Scottish Motor Show in November 2001 and the product went on sale in December 2001. The product won several awards including a 5* rating in Auto Express, the UK's best selling weekly car magazine.
Origin's second product release was the highly regarded Origin b2. This multi-award winning product won a 5* rating in Auto Express, together with the highly coveted Best Buy accreditation. It also won a Product Honours Award from Auto Express in 2004 as Best Speed Camera Locator.
In March 2007, Origin rebranded its product line-up, replacing the Origin brand name with “Pogo”. Consumer research conducted prior to the change revealed that both Origin b2 users and non users preferred the Pogo brand name to the Origin brand name; it was felt to be more confident, bolder, fresher, more memorable and more consumer friendly. Furthermore, the Pogo name was thought to be more in keeping with a brand which was expected to deliver high-end, innovative and market leading product solutions.
In 2007 Origin launched Pogo Alert, the successor to Origin b2. Pogo Alert was another well received and highly regarded Origin product launch; it was awarded the ICE Gold Award in both 2007 and 2008. This is a particularly significant achievement as the award is voted for by retailers and industry experts, who should be able to recognise a good product!
2007 also saw the launch of Pogo Drive, Origin’s first foray into the highly competitive satellite navigation market. Pogo Drive combined sleek design, a colour touch screen, a superb, custom designed user interface with full western Europe mapping and 7 digit UK postcode search; and, as one would expect from one of the world’s leading manufacturers of GPS-based safety camera warning systems, Pogo Drive provided superb safety camera warnings! Although Pogo Drive was well received (in July 2008, the Daily Express wrote that it was “…one of the best… a bargain”) in 2010 Origin took the strategic decision to discontinue Pogo Drive and concentrate solely on the development of innovative, ground breaking and market leading safety camera warning systems.
In 2010, Origin launched Pogo Alert+ to replace Pogo Alert; in many ways, Pogo Alert+ is the true successor to the highly regarded and much missed Origin b2. Click here for more information on Pogo Alert+.
Why risk your licence by driving without the best safety camera warning system available – a Pogo system.
